Charlie &
Hamish These 1 year old, 30 pound, scottie brothers from Ambler, PA
needed to be rehomed because their owners were working too many hours and felt
bad that they were alone and crated most of the day. Marion spend a good deal
of time evaluating them in order to know what would be the ideal situation for
them. We were flooded with calls and emails once we posted them to our website,
but settled on a couple in Lock Haven, PA, who had scottie experience and were
very lonely after their last scottie died of lymphoma. We interviewed many
people, but found they were the best match for the boys. They are doing really
well in their new home and are very much loved. At last report, they were
making their way through the stuffed teddy bear collection and take up the
whole bed when sleeping with their new parents. But, nobody's
complaining!

Melody A lovely 4+
year old Scottie girl, Melody's family just didn't have the time for her. She
was also categorized as an escape artist and they were worried she'd get away.
Jim & Linda fostered Melody and worked her into their pack, until the right
home came along for her. Jim's evaluation - 'Clearly, she was named for the
deep, loud, melodious sound she makes whenever she is outside the company of a
human!', had us on the lookout for someone who could be with her all the time
and had plenty of room between their neighbors. A retired couple (screened and
past adopters of ours) in Lebanon, CT contacted me, to let me know that their
last Scottie had died, and they wanted to be put back on our list. A few days
later, Melody was in their home, lighting up their lives again. We got a nice
call over Christmas to tell us how well she's fitting in and how happy they are
to have her.

Mylene Agnes(now
Mylene) The Philadelphia SPCA contacted us about a 6-8 year old female Scottie
they were holding in the back room. She'd originally come in off the street in
the early fall in horrible shape, missing hair and her feet cut up. They were
kind enough to care for her, but adopted her out to a family with a young
child. One night the child startled her in her bed in the dark (she is also
hard of hearing), although only wanting to hug her, Agnes bit the child.
Although no damage was done, the family realized she was probably not the best
fit for them and returned her. Not wanting to make any more mistakes for her,
the shelter contacted us and wanted to work through us. We adopted Agnes out to
a lawyer in Haverford, PA ( a friend of one of our club members) who was trying
to find her parents another scottie. They had recently lost her scottie and
still had a blind westie. The scottie had been her 'eyes' and companion. Agnes,
now Mylene, is doing great in her new home up near Albany. She acts like she's
always been there, sleeps in bed with them, and the westie is following her
around everywhere, getting around a lot better again with a little help from
her new sister!!

Marley and
Shortie Marley (top) and Shortie(bottom) We were contacted by a woman
who had picked up 2 scotties from shelters over the past few years, she
rehabilitated them and now wanted to place them through scottie rescue. One was
Marley, a sweet, 6-7 year old male, who got along with everyone. He'd been
named Marley because of all the matted and overgrown hair he came in with. We
adopted Marley to the most wonderful woman, an architect, in Harrisburg, PA.
She wanted to continue with the adoption, even though Marley was diagnosed with
a severe heart murmur and bladder cancer. She gave Marley a wonderful home and
happy life for his 2 remaining months. Marley passed away just after the New
Year from bladder cancer. We are all saddened by the loss of such a sweet boy,
and just when he finally found someone who truly loved him. Shortie was an
energetic 5 year old female. Originally unsocialized, the woman who fostered
her, worked hard to make her happy, trusting and friendly again. She was also
friendly with cats, dogs, and children, so was an easy placement. She's now
living with her new family, including a 2 year old scottie brother, in Hanover,
PA, and doing very well.

Chauncy Originally
named Champ when he was fostered with the Cooks, 7 year old Chauncy came from a
home where the owners were worried about him with their baby, was then adopted
to a woman in southern, NJ. The adoption didn't work out, not because the woman
didn't love him, but because her friends and family were exerting pressure and
there was an incident. Not being able to get information about what actually
happened, we were not willing to euthanize him without a longer evaluation.
Judi was able to take Chauncy into foster for about 6 weeks to evaluate him and
found him to be her idea of a perfect scottie. She had absolutely no incidents
with him and enjoyed her time with him. Chauncy was adopted to a male couple in
Barnveld, NY who also have a male and female scottie. They had just moved up
from NYC and work from home, so the scotties will have the run of a large home
and property. So far, all is going well with the adoption and we are hopeful
this will be Chauncy's final and best home.
