Matilda One of our
local STCA breeders had a litter of puppies and discovered that 2 of them had
scottie cramp. Knowing that we do a thorough screening of our adoptive homes
and are familiar with cramp, he asked us to find good pet homes for them. The
little girl, now named Matilda, was placed with a couple who own a gorgeous Bed
& Breakfast in Vermont. They also have a male westie and their cairn had
recently passed away. They were very taken with the little scottie and their
westie was happy to have terrier company again. Matilda now has a beautiful
place to run and play and greets all the visitors.

Laddie Laddie, the
brother of Matilda, the other pup we placed last month with cramp, moved in
with Nan & Don Barcan until we could locate just the right home for him.
Although he had a great time there, he did finally move onto his new home in
Warwick, NY. He has a wheaten scottie puppy brother named Barley who he spends
most of the day wrestling with. His new Mom is a retired preschool teacher,
which has prepared her for the job refereeing these active boys while Dad is at
work. These empty nesters are happy to have the sound of little feet running
around the house and yard again. We all miss the charms of little Laddie, but
wish him all the best in his new life!

Eleanor Eleanor
Roosevelt, an 8 year old black scottie came in from a home in Delaware. Her
owner had 3 female scotties, Eleanor Roosevelt, Martha Stewart, and Hillary
Clinton. She was moving to a condo and could only take one, decided on Hillary,
so asked us to take Eleanor and Martha, who were sisters. Before we could pick
them up, Martha died suddenly, we don't know why, as no vet care had been
provided to the girls. We were able to take Eleanor and she came into foster
with Jim and Linda. Eleanor is a lovely and friendly scottie, who's happy for
the attention and loves belly rubs. After all her vet care was done, she was
adopted to a couple in Boston, who live on the same street as a couple we
adopted to a few years ago, right by the Boston Commons in Back Bay. She
immediately fit right in and is enjoying her new and improved location. I know
she'll have a wonderful life there.

Johnny/Angus/Ludwig/Philly Many names for the same
sweet guy. When Philadelphia animal control called Marion to say they had a
scottie, we contacted them to get some pictures and after verifying that he was
a scottie or close enough, we asked the Hoylers to pick him up. Naming him
Johnny, they took care of him overnight and were able to bathe him and remove
his tangles. We arranged with Marion's vet to board him over the holiday and
neuter him, he also had some severe digestive issues going on and it took a
while to stabilize him. I decided to give him a scottish name and called him
Angus. After all the vet work was done, I went to pick him up and found a
scottie on schnauzer legs and with a docked tail. Hmmm. Still, he was cute and
the sweetest guy, and we loved him and fostered him for a month until the right
home was found. I decided that if he was a black schnauzer, he should have a
German name and called him Ludwig (Luddi). During this time, he put on 6 pounds
and had a lovely grooming from Kathleen Zetcher to make him look his best. This
was a real team effort. Whatever he really is (we thought he was a pet store
scottie, and schnauzer rescue thought he was a pet store black schnauzer, but
he's probably a mix of the two) he was placed with a male couple in Princeton,
NJ who adore him and he's doing great. Everyone who met Luddi really fell for
him, he seemed to have a magical effect on people and we hope he will lead a
charmed life from now on.

Ty A one year old
black scottie named Tiny came into the RBARI shelter in Oakland, NJ, and they
contacted me to help them find him a home. He was a nice dog, but a little
wild, his owners said they worked and had a young child and didn't have any
time for him, so he stayed crated a lot and wasn't housebreaking well. We
discussed Tiny with a longtime applicant who lived close to the shelter, an
accountant with 2 other scotties, and he went right down and adopted Tiny. Now,
named Ty, he's doing wonderfully well and assimilating into the small pack.
There are no reported problems, all he needed was a good home with someone who
knew scotties!
